Below you will find scouting shots of one *potential* candidate for the office breakroom.

This is the "Muse Office."

You will find the refrigerator and sink area. Notice the island to the left of the frame. Notice the hardwood floors.

You will find the table and chairs, opposite the kitchen area island. Notice the island to the right of the frame. This is the same island as found in the previous picture.

You will also find a shot of the office opposite the break area.

PROS: This is a wide open space, ideal for filming, with hardwood floors and high ceilings. Alli has a connection with the owners, and they are closed in the evening.

CONS: There is no traditional "doorway" for Elliot to hide behind, thereby requiring that moment to be rethought and creatively staged. He could, conceivably, be hiding around the edge of the refrigerator, or something similar.

The following is a *potential* candidate for the Office Building Exterior, where Elliot escorts Meredith and finds her car covered in parking tickets.

This is the "Muse Exterior."

PROS: The look is excellent: drab, industrial, but fascinating, designed by a famous architect. Also, because it faces an alley, we would not require permits to film on a city street, and would be largely free of traffic. Also, if we used the interior, there would be no travel between locations.

CONS: Because it is an alley, it could be difficult to stage Meredith's car as illegally parked in any believable way. Further photographs will be needed.

I'm meeting with a restaurant manager at about 4:30 to discuss shooting at his location. Wilder isn't crazy about this particular restaurant, but I wanted to get the ball rolling, and we can also use it as a backup if things fall apart. Other things that I'm taking care of today is a call to the film commission of California. I've heard that they can be helpful, and are free to use. (Though there is a price for a site superviser, and I need to find out how much that is.) I'm also checking out Kodevco.com, a site that was reccommended to me by a coworker. Apparently, they work on a sliding scale based on the budget for the film.

I've recruited Zak to help work on alternatives to the restaurant. By the end of this week, I hope to have at least one location nailed down.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas of how to help.

The Mexican Club location is PERFECT for the restaurant. PERFECT.

And there are several contemporary OFFICE locations on this site that would be awesome. Find out what we're talking about for payment on these, since they might be well worth it.

Just so y'all know what's going on...

The restaurant location fell through, and Zak and I scouted a couple more restaurants on Saturday. In addition,
we are:

Talking to location managers in our office
Asking friends and family in the area if they can suggest anything
Speaking with The CA Film Commission
Zak is also talking to a friend in San Diego who attends a college. Perhaps we could dress their dining area

If anyone can think of any more ways to find locations that can be rented for free, please let me know.

Wilder's Mexican Club location was torn down, but the company is emailing me pictures of other restaurants tomorrow.

I'm afraid I have to veto anything outside of Los Angeles county. No San Diego. Our schedule will not permit that sort of travel time. That is an absolute certainty.

Furthermore, I'm really not at all optimistic about dressing a dining hall. In fact, after our experience trying to do the same in Stirling's DivIII, I would say that I'm confident that it would not suffice for the film's more important location. Our "production value" will be judged by this location.

Hey Kids,

So here's an update for the locations, just so everyone knows where we are.

Restaurant-LOCKED-Tommy Ray's

EXT-Office Building-will cost 500 to 800 dollars to shoot public property exteriors in LA. We have to go more privately. Wilder's got his heart set on a place near the house. Short answer, we're working on it.

Int. Office Break Room-We're sending over a package to the FOX people and see if we can shoot on the lot. This will be particularly good if we can shoot in the Standoff elevator, which is made to be shot in. Shooting at Fox is actually looking more possible than you'd think. We're also waiting back for final approal from Treehouse Studio's, a small facility who would let us shoot for free in exchange for one minute of the completed product and a production end credit. If we get final approval from them, we can shoot in their office.

The Beach- The closest beach to Van Nuys is 15 miles away, which will be about 45 minutes drive. There are also some lakes only four miles away from Van Nuys. Zak and I are checking out both locations Sunday.

Elliot's Bathroom and Living Room: Wilder's and my apartment Zak has to ask his roomate about housing people at his apartment, which will make things infinitely easier if we're using the apartment as a set.

Meredith's Bathroom: Zak's bathroom. Zak must upload pictures so that Wilder can approve, but I feel good about it.

Restaurant-Men's and Women's-The Treehouse Lounge Film Studios. They have perfect placement and men's and women's restaurant bathrooms.

Retail Counter: A friend of Wilder's knows someone who has a horror movie and paraphanalia store. We might be able to use their register, and it would certainly work with Samantha's Goth character.

Int. Sports Bar: We might be able to use the Treehouse Lounge for this one too. They have a bar area. Though, I feel like we can do better. We'll still work on it.

Let me know what you guys think.
